Wincor Nixdorf's point-of-sale (POS) terminals are pervasive. They are used in retail stores, train stations, lottery ticket kiosks, and post offices. The company is also the top ATM provider in Germany, and it sells retailing software, information and store automation systems, and reverse vending systems (to manage store returns). In addition, the company offers such services as spare-parts sourcing, remote diagnostics, and IT operations management. Most of its sales are made outside Germany; customers have included Chevron, the United States Postal Service, and Wells Fargo. US ATM maker Diebold bought Wincor Nixdorf in a deal that closed in August 2016.
